 TRUE NORTH CLUB LACROSSE

ANNOUNCEMENT

TRUE NORTH LACROSSE CLUB IS BACK IN TOWN

I am happy to announce that True North Lacrosse Club will be going forward this summer. Due to other commitments requiring my attention, I was initially concerned that I would not be able to find the time to put together a quality program. I very much wanted to continue the True North Lacrosse Club at its high level, but I knew that I could not play the same role as I did last year. I have been presented with an opportunity that will allow the program to continue and meet my level of expectation, while permitting me to devote the time necessary to attend to my other responsibilities.

I will remain as the Program Director of the True North Lacrosse Club, but I will take a step back from the day-to-day operations and coaching. I will turn those responsibilities over to competent lacrosse people who I trust to keep the True North teaching system strong and moving forward in the right direction.

The program will follow my coaching philosophy. I will establish practice plans, drills, coaching methods and strategy that will be followed in practice and games. My goal of teaching lacrosse to be played the proper way will continue to be pursued. The club will keep my mark and I will be overseeing all aspects of the program, although not necessarily from the field.

We held our first tryout for 7th and 8th graders on November 22, 2011 and plan on extending offers to players by the end of the month. We will have a 5th/6th grade and a 9th grade tryout in the next month or so, at which time those 7th and 8th graders who were not able to make the earlier tryout can show their stuff. We will announce that date as soon as it is confirmed.

It is our intention to field teams at the 9th/10th, 8th, 7th and combined 5th/6th grade levels with the plan to follow each team through high school, coaching and teaching them skills necessary to play at the collegiate level.  Each team will enter 4 competitive summer tournaments with the possibility of additional opportunities throughout the year. There will also be approximately 10 coaching sessions during the course of the summer tournament season. True North Lacrosse Club will be seeking current and former college players, as well as local high school coaches, to assist with coaching during the summer season following my coaching methodology.

I am excited that True North will be moving ahead and look forward to a fun and exciting summer of lacrosse. If you have any questions or need any additional information, please contact Kevin Main at truenorthlax@gmail.com.
